| GETTING
TO NEWPORT |
 |
Air... |
 |
** Best
option for the
Baltimore/DC/Philly folks **
Southwest
flies nonstop to
Providence (PVD): one-way fares are $29 from PHL and $39-$49 from
BWI. US
Airways also
flies
nonstop to Providence: one-way fares are $29 from PHL and $54 from
DCA. Southwest just released a lot of these cheap fares at good
travel times for BWI and PHL, so you might want to book quickly.
We are
arranging for group rates for specific flights from BWI; please read
the box to the left and fill in your name and e-mail address if you are
interested.
**Getting
from the airPORT to newPORT **
Providence
airport is about 25 minutes from Newport. We recommend you rent
a car. Click here
for a list of rental companies at the airport.
**ONLY BUDGET, AVID AND HERTZ ARE
ON-SITE AND DON'T REQUIRE A SHUTTLE **
You may also find good rates directly from
the company sites or through places like Orbitz and Expedia. You
can find discount codes here. Use
AWD B021600 for a good Avis rate, for example.
There
is also a shuttle
from the airport. It
is $20 each way and runs every hour.
for
information.
**
Because many guests will be arriving at similar **
** times, we
would be happy to help coordinate **
** rides
to
Newport to minimize car rentals. **
**If interested,
please fill out the form
on the left. **

** GROUP RATE FROM BWI **
Interested in booking this group rate from BWI?:
We are arranging a group rate on Southwest from BWI to Providence for
$113. This would only apply to either 4/9 BWI-PVD
9:30a-10:40a, 4/11 PVD-BWI 2:15p-3:30p or 4/9 BWI-PVD 2:30p-3:40p,
4/11 PVD-BWI 1:15p-2:30p (the flights are not interchangeable).
Note: be sure to check online,
as Southwest has recently added comparable fares direct on their
website.
Our ability to get this rate is contingent on getting at least 10
tickets per flight by February 15. Flights must be booked with us to
get
in this group; Rapid Reward credits will still be given to
members. If interested, please fill out the form above
ASAP. |

Car...

** Best
option for the NJ/NY folks **
Newport
is an easy drive from NJ
or NY, generally taking under 3.5 hours. And if you get
hungry en
route, this
is only a
mile off
the highway!
Parking will likely be readily available and free during the wedding
weekend in Newport.

Need
to hitch a ride?
We'll try to help out:

 |
Rail...
|
 |
Amtrak
is probably a poor idea for
just about everyone. Besides not being particularly fast or
cheap
($56 from NYC), it only goes as far as Providence. And there
is
always the chance a loud and smelly person will sit next to you...

Foot...

 |
If traveling by
foot, we suggest you dress warmly, bring spare cell phone batteries,
and -- most importantly -- start NOW.

ACCOMMODATIONS
|
There
are many great options available depending on your
preferences: Oceancliff
is the site of the wedding, a converted mansion with unique rooms where
much of the family will be staying; the Newport
Harbor Hotel is
all about
value and location - right on the
waterfront next to the wharf, in the main part of town; the
Viking
Hotel and Vanderbilt
Hall
are high
luxury and only blocks from downtown; the Marriott
and Hyatt
are the
traditional options; and of course Newport is famous for its many cozy Bed
&
Breakfasts. |

Oceancliff
|
Oceancliff
is an old mansion that
is the site of our wedding. This is where the bride and groom
and
many
family are staying. There are three rooms still
available at Oceancliff for Sunday night, but Saturday night is
entirely booked.
Call (401)
841-8868
for reservations and tell them you are with the Rosenberg/Hosid
wedding in
order to get the group rates. The
rate for the remaining room is $126, and includes parking and
breakfast. Each room is
unique; click here
for a description of rooms still availabile. Note that
Oceancliff
is near the many Newport mansions, a drive of about five-ten minutes
from downtown.

Newport
Harbor
Hotel
|
We
have reserved a
block of
rooms
at the Newport
Harbor Hotel & Marina. They
are giving us a group rate of $119 for
Friday and Saturday nights, and $99 for Sunday night (this rate
includes
parking). This
hotel is right on the
water, across from rehearsal dinner, and walking distance to tons of
stores and restaurants.
We imagine
that many of our wedding guests will stay here.
To
make a reservation,
call them
at 1-800-955-2558 and say
that you are with the Rosenberg/Hosid wedding. www.nhhm.com
** UPDATE: We have been told by guests
that the hotel has sometimes been telling callers that there is no
availability in the discounted block. This is inaccurate; please
book a reservation, ask them to note it is for our wedding, and we will
fix it retroactively. **

Hotel
Viking
and
Vanderbilt
Hotel
|
Both
the Hotel Viking
and
Vanderbilt Hall are famous in Newport for service and luxury.
They are both blocks from downtown; the Viking is larger and has a spa,
while the Vanderbilt is really fancy but relatively small.
Because the wedding takes place in the off-season, the prices are
dramatically cheaper than usual.

Marriott
and Hyatt |
For
those of you
who
prefer a more traditional hotel option,
there is a Marriott and a Hyatt nearby. The
Marriott is right next door to the Newport
Harbor Hotel &
Marina, and the Hyatt is across the bridge on Goat
Island.
Both hotels have beautiful locations on the
water, with the Marriott more conducive to walking.

Bed
&
Breakfasts
|
Finally,
Newport is famous for its bed and breakfasts, and there are
plenty to choose from!
Many
are just blocks from the downtown area and are comparable in price to
the hotels. Check
out this website for a pretty comprehensive list,
along with links to the B&B’s websites. http://www.gonewport.com/wheretostay/inns_newport.htm
